The best to banish orangey tones

HairFaceBody

By far the most effective at getting rid of unwanted orangey hues on very dark hair which has been lightened. I've done a fair bit of research and saw that the no yellow shampoo can be used on dry hair for a dramatic reduction in yellow tones so I tried the no orange shampoo on my hair and it worked a treat and twice as fast than on wet hair. If you are worried about your hair turning blue use it initially as per the instructions, on wet hair. Not as drying as some of the other toning shampoos I've used. This is my new go-to for quick effective toning. I'm getting the 1 litre bottle next time.

not for me

Rosie

i'n not sure if i got that product for the wrong purpose. I'm dark blond hair, some times i get a brassy orange and eventhough i used it for a month once and twice week, i haven't seen much change in my hair, i find the fanola purple did it better work.
  1. Blue Best Shampoo for my bronde

    Bri

I love this blue shampoo. as a blonde im used to the usual purple but this blue toning shampoo by Fanola has been great at removing some of the copper undertones. it also leaves hair not too dry and it hasnt effected oil on the scalp. really like using this and the size is helpful!
  2. Does the trick

    Amy

Would 100% say it transforms hair back to white!! Hard to find a good toner but this does the trick.
I would recommend using hydrating shampoo or conditioner let after due to leaving my hair slightly dry... but all toners can be like this.

    On my third bottle d

  4. Removes brassiness

    Ashlee

I have brunette hair and find that its hard to remove the brassiness/orange from my hair. This is the only product that I have found to actually be effective. I use it as a mask rather than a shampoo, and leave it on for a substantial amount of time (it doesn't dye my hair blue).
  5. Strong and effective

    ST

This shampoo does what it says on the tin, it helps to remove any brassy tones from my blonde. It's a nice strong formula, however it is slightly drying - but that doesn't really affect me as I only use it every second wash.

  7. Good results but drying

    Oui

I started using Fanola after my hairdresser recommended it after having my hair bleached. She did say to use it once every couple of weeks, as it can be drying [and also color your hair!], and she wasn't wrong! I think this is a great toning shampoo, but should be used sparingly, and with a really good conditioner. I have since dyed my hair back to brown, so will not be repurchasing, but I do reco...

  8. It's purple

    Lucy

    verified purchaser
It's literally purple. Not even slightly blue. I was so excited to try it because of how potent the fanola no yellow purple shampoo is but this is literally the same thing. I have used other brands that are much bluer and much better.
  9. Good for bleached brunettes but drying!!

    Anna

I used this for the first time last week on my hair that has been bleached with dyed brown and blonde going through. As I do have Asian hair I know that I'm more prone to brassiness. I used this shampoo in the shower for only 2 minutes and surprising saw quick results! My hair looked the same as it did when I first walked out of the salon. However, I felt that it faded away after I washed it so I ...

  10. A great cool tone shampoo

    charli

First impression of this product is that it smells pretty good and doesn't dry out your hair even when left in longer than recommended, which most toners do for my hair. In terms of toning, immediately after using this shampoo, I noticed the brassiness of my hair reduce significantly. A nice touch to the experience was the goodies I received in my RECYCLED box, which I love that the company is co...

  11. Must Have For Bleached Hair

    Jamie

Definitely works! Cleans out them nasty brassy colours.
Make sure to follow with a good hydrating conditioner though as it can be drying.
  12. Cancels out brassiness

    Lisa

I have dark brown highlighted Asian hair, and this product does an A+ at eliminating the orange in my hair - it's so ashy! I find that it's also less drying than the No Yellow shampoo.

    J99D

while this shampoo definitely tones and brightens your hair colour, I do find that it is E X T R E M E L Y drying. I actually experienced flaking on my scalp cos it dried by roots out so much and my ends were extremely frizzy. great price point but I will not repurchase at all.
  14. Amazing

    P

I didn't know if I needed no orange or no yellow shampoo so I bought both and use both interchangeably and sometimes mixed and they both do the job really well. But I like the no yellow better for some reason. This is still pretty amazing.
  15. Great but be cautious with light hair

    Elise

This is pretty good at removing the orange tones in hair, much better than just purple shampoo. You also use it on platinum blonde hair to get a more ashy look than what you can get with purple shampoo and it works well, just don't leave it on for too long or else it may leave a blue stain that comes out after a few washes.
  16. On the fence

    Mel

I have dark hair that I lighten. I tend to throw off a lot of warmth and have used many purple shampoos to try and tone the orange. Fanola's blue shampoo takes the orange out of my hair but it leaves my hair feeling like straw after so I would suggest a hyrdating treatment mask after use
  17. Savior of a product

    MS

Having dark hair I always end up with orange highlights as opposed to golden ones that I’ve paid the salon to do! Using this shampoo once a week ensures that my highlights are true to the colour that I want it to be. Great stuff!
  18. Super pigmented

    Krysta

This was my first time using the Fanola No Orange and it’s a yes from me hands down. It’s super pigmented and does it’s job exceptionally well
  19. Instantly Removes Brassy Tones

    McLemon

My hair is brunette with blonde balayage. It tends to naturally become quite brassy. I really liked this shampoo, it removed the brassy tones from my hair much more quickly and intensely than other brands I have used. I think I would use this once per week to maintain my colour rather than every wash, like I have been with other brands. Good value for money.
  20. Does the job

    Cindy

Great for brunettes or dark blondes. It is a little drying so make sure you use a treatment afterwards but other then that it’s good and does what it’s intended to do
  21. Yes and yes

    Leanne

Definately recommend. I am a brunette with bleach in my ends that always turn warm after a week of colour. Fanola isn’t tacky like other brands and really takes the warmth out
  22. Works well over time

    Natascha

With each wash I notice the colour is less coppery. Will persist with using a few times each week to maintain a nice golden brown.
  23. Didn't take to my hair

    Sophie

This helped a little bit, but doesn't really work to maintain my colour. I would maybe recommend to someone with slightly lighter hair, although the common advice is that this is supposed to be good for brunettes with orange tones. I have level 8 (darkish blonde) hair and this didn't work for me. It's also very drying which is not great for the type of hair this stuff is meant for - bleached hair,...

  24. Not bad

    Sandie

I was hoping this product would lighten my hair and eliminate the orange tones caused from bleaching, but it’s pretty much stayed the same. Although it’s not getting any oranger so it must be doing something! It also hasn’t left my hair super dry which is what I was expecting after reading reviews about fanola, however I am pairing it with a good hair treatment and a leave in
  25. Beautiful platinum blonde

    M

I love the time this gives my blonde hair, but it is a little drying since it has sulfates. It produces a clean white blonde rather than a grey tone
  26. Lifesaver

    Haylee

This product is an absolute life saver for people with darker hair that throws off unwanted brassy tones! I use it twice a week and love how well it maintains the hair colour I desire while leaving my hair feeling great!
  27. Does the job but extremely drying

    Joanna

I bought this when my hair was balayage blonde. Only with each wash would it minimise orange tones but it was so drying. You will need a hair mask after using it.
  28. Great toner shampoo

    Hayley

I have used other brass correcting shampoos before and this is by far the best of them. Definitely have to leave it on as it says to get the full effect. I have dark brown hair with half a head of foils which of course gone very brassy/red/orange. This certainly brightens the foils to look more of a blonde/brassy tone compared to the bright orange/brassy colour which I like. Doesn’t completely tak...

  30. Literally NO more orange!

    Sarah

I've used plenty of brunette brass reducing shampoos and this is as close as I've gotten to salon results.

The product is super blue (wear gloves) , lathers like a normal shampoo. I left in for 10 minutes and the results were great. Have only used a few times so can't wait to see better results over time.

Love that it's not super drying like other treatments that made my...

  31. Best Shampoo for my balayage

    Liz

I've got balayage, so some darker bits in amongst the blonde. This shampoo is AMAZING! I've had several people ask me whether I just got it done (it's been about 6 weeks). After trying at least 5 different blonde shampoos I've finally found one I will buy again.
  32. Amazing!

    Meg

I just recently went from blonde to brown and my hair was bringing up a lot of orange/copper tones, I have tried the fanola no yellow on my blonde hair and it was my best friend so I thought I would try the no orange in my now brown hair and wow!! Totally took out all of the orange in my hair and made it a beautiful golden undertone! I love it !
  33. Great

    Peta

  34. I'm blue da ba dee da ba daa

    Christine (Adore Beauty Staff)

At least for 1-5 minutes as I wait for the product to work its magic.

I love how well this lathers through my locks. Couldn't say the same for a lot of blue/purple shampoos I've tried on my oh so bleached hair.

It is definitely drying though, which is to be expected with anything of this sort, but nothing a sweet lil leave-in conditioner can't fix.
