Most Helpful Criticism

Extremely expensive
When I got some bonus money I finally treated myself to this, but honestly I could not say this is a must have.
Before this we had a standard cheap hair dryer under $100 and it did a great job.
This is 5 times more expensive and I don't know if it does the job 5 times better.
It is great, it dries quickly and without getting too hot, it's quieter too.
And of course it looks amazing and is definitely something to show off.
The magnetised nozzle is impressive, but it gets knocked off more easily.
It's not any lighter than our previous hair dryer, which can be tiring if you have a lot of hair to dry.
It's faster to dry, but not incredibly so.
I do like how it's less damaging to the hair.
But I honestly don't know if it's really worth $500.
I think you can definitely get comparable things for cheaper. It's all marketing hype.
  1. innovative!

I wasn't sure what the fuss about dyson was all about but after having this, I get it. It's a really innovative tool that works and I've had mine for years and it's still working well!
  2. Love but expensive

This product is expensive but it is great! Wouldn’t recommend if you don’t blow dry all the time. But great if you do regularly as you get your moneys worth. It isn’t loud and dries it so quick!

  4. Good for curly hair

I purchased this solely because it had such great reviews from curly haired girls. I use it with the diffuser. It fully dries my hair in about 20 minutes and my curls are extra curly. If I was using it as a normal hair dryer to dry my hair and then straighten it, it's basically the same as my old VS, except quieter. I took one star off for the price. Honestly it's good but not $500 good.
  5. Do it

    Hair type: long/thick/brunette

Worth the cost, I've noticed visible improvements in the quality of my hair since ditching my cheap dryer. It dries my long hair quickly, and with less heat. Couldn't recommend Dyson products enough.
  6. Impressive

Going from a cheap hairdryer to this I was very impressed, I have long thick hair and this uses less heat to dry it, and less time. Impressed.
  7. If you can justify the price, do it!

I recently upgraded to the Dyson from my old, reliable Parlux 3800. Don't get me wrong, the Parlux was good...but the Dyson is just that much better!
It's everything it says in the marketing - it's light, balanced, quiet, has a steady airflow with no buffering and doesn't get too hot. Somehow all that works to leave my fine hair looking incredibly shiny, healthy and smooth. The ends of my hair used to look a little rough but the Dyson leaves them so much smoother. It's remarkable how well it works.
The magnetic attachments are actually really handy and the stand is a great addition. And I love that there's no way of getting your hair stuck in the intake - it actually makes it easier to blow dry.
If you can justify the price, this is a brilliant hairdryer that'll give you gorgeous looking hair.
  8. Bouncy vibrant hair <3

I wasn’t sure whether I’d take to the Dyson supersonic as I’ve had a Parlux for 10 years that is absolutely amazing and still going strong but I was starting to notice a few split ends occurring in my thick-ish sometimes frizzy and unruly hair and thought it was probably time for an upgrade as it could be my hairdryer drying out my ends. I don’t heat treat my hair much, washing it only twice a week and blow waving it but was hoping that the Dyson would fulfill my wants of using even less heat on my hair while giving it a silky light bouncy finish- and let me tell you- I’m not disappointed. My hair takes about the same amount of drying time as with my parlux but using less heat (which is a win!) and I don’t feel all hot and sweaty and have my hair sticking to my back anymore while I’m trying to dry it. The weight is super balanced in my hand which takes some getting used to having all the weight in the handle rather than up top but it’s fantastic not having sore wrists at the end of it! If you’re due for an upgrade I would definitely recommend it as it’s a very sturdy and compact dryer and Dyson are usually fantastic to deal with (if you were to ever have any problems with it)
  9. VERY EXPENSIVE, it works well but still sooo expensive

I was a little skeptical that one hair dryer could make a big difference over any other, but this product has proved me wrong. I was using a Babyliss when I got this, and I am (no pun intended) blown away. It takes a little getting used to because it does NOT get as hot as the other dryers. It has sensors that change the heat to optimize it for your level of wetness and it turns out that Dyson doesn't think we need all the heat that we think we need - and they're right! When I use this dryer with NO attachments, it takes the same dry time (maybe a little less) as other dryers but with less heat, and either the less heat or something about how it blows makes me look like I got a professional blowout after a cut. My hair lays much more smoothy and has so much more movement and less weight. I'll put a pic to to show what I mean. Is it worth $400? Maybe. I do think it will last forever and that it makes a daily difference for me, since I use it daily. If you you have a different hair type or you don't often dry, it might not be worth the investment for you. THAT said, it is nice not to be all sweaty after I dry my hair!

  11. Hair Drying Heaven!

This hair dryer had me at the magnetic detachable heads! Talk about sophisticated convenience. Also, I can't believe how quiet, yet powerful the Supersonic is...I can almost get away with not waking my boyfriend up when I'm drying my hair in the morning!

But all this wouldn't mean anything unless the results lived up to my expectations, and they did! By far, the smoothest blow wave a novice like myself can get without booking in at the salon.
  12. It's great - but it's how much?!

My Parlux has been kicking on for a solid 4 years now, and the relationship is getting a little bit stale, so when I got the chance to try the Dyson Supersonic I jumped at it. This is a really impressive piece of technology.

The first thing I noticed about this is that it's much less hot than hairdryers I'm used to, and as someone with super thick curly hair I was originally quite concerned about whether this would dry my hair. Lo and behold, it did, and just as fast as my Parlux does. Less heat + same drying time = less damage, which is always a win in the books of a heat styling obsessive like me.

The next thing that really stands out about this is that it's a really, really quiet hairdryer. If you're in a smaller-than-average unit like me, this is a major advantage - when my partner turned it on at 6am to dry his hair, it didn't wake me up. WIN.

My hair looks shinier than usual, and it feels great. Overall, I'm really impressed by this unit.

I've knocked off a star because this dryer is literally double the price of my tried and true Parlux. Given the choice to repurchase my Parlux or buy a Dyson Supersonic, I can't say for certain that I'd splash out and spend the extra $250 for a Dyson. However this might come with time, and if the unit has an impressive lifespan (as most Dyson products seem to do) then I might change my mind.
