Clarins fail - 10-10-2011 by

I am a long-term Clarins customer that has been using the Hydra-tint moisturizer in the colour BISQUE for years. This product suits most complexions of medium coloured skin and blended so well to give a natural glowing look.

The release of this new line of tinted moisturizer was more like trying on face paint, than a subtle, natural layer of moisture. Even the lightest of the available colours was at least 3 shades darker than my skin and the clarins staff put it down to Europeans being much darker than us Aussies... Being eastern European by birth, I would have thought my natural olive complexion would fit this description perfectly, however I found that I could no longer stick to this clarins products because it was more like a really bad foundation rather than the look that I was once able to achieve... The closest I was able to find has been the elizabeth arden moisturizer in the lightest colour available, and even this is a little dark for a moisturizer...

In summary, extremely dissapointed with this product

Dissapointing - 01-07-2012 by

I have also been using the tinted moisturizer range from Clarins and was quite happy with the now discountinued range of colours.

These are very dark colours and the sales assistant agreed that testing it on my skin just did not work well. The concept of colours ranging from 01-04 is also not very intuitive in the new range as you associate 01 with the lightest shade, 02 with darker and so on.

I have started using a different product by Dior since and have never looked back!

At the end of the day, when something works and is taken off the shelves in the stores, you just lose loyalty to the brand.

Looks very dark but I use the beauty flash balm first and then the Hydraquench Tinted Moisturizer. - 21-01-2012 by

I totally disagree with the previous review that the shades are too dark, I have just found out that in Australia No 5 Gold is not stocked. I bought mine in UK last August and when the beautician in Debenhams demonstrated this colour I would never have chosen anything as dark as I am fair skinned and normally chose a light colour. When it was blended in it just looks so natural and gives me a healthy glow without that heavy or artificial look - I am in my 60's so do not want a heavy foundation. My neighbour who is in her 70's and has a fair complexion too (she was a natural red head) cannot believe how natural it looks on her also. We are just a bit disappointed that we will have to send to UK or USA to get this colour and hope that soon it will be in stock here also.

The new range is very disappointing. - 19-11-2012 by

I agree with Deb and Bisque. I have a light olive skin which tans easily in the summer and I have been using the Clarins Hydra-Care Tinted Moisturizer in the Amber shade for some years. I found it spread easily and evenly without a heavy "make-up" look. The new Hydra-Quench is heavier and rather lifeless on my skin. In addition the 4 colours available in Australia do not suit my skin - they all give me a rather pallid look. I cannot understand why Clarins would fiddle with such an excellent product.
