20 y.o with normal skin. I bought this after seeking a gel moisturiser because my skin became drier in winter, but needed something lightweight that would not make me look greasy and shiny during the day. The name seems promising, 'oil control' and 'mattifying,' I was expecting it to give me moisture without giving me that mid-day forehead shine. While it is a decent lightweight moisturiser, I did not find that it was great as a mattifying or oil controlling product, which is disappointing. I have tried the normal clinique dramatically different oil control gel as well, but I found that it worked the same as this one in not really keeping my skin matte for long. While it might not be perfect in oil control, I do feel like the lightweight formula at least works a little better than heavier cream moisturisers.
Middle Eastern 20 y.o. male with normal skin. I have been using this cleanser since May 2018, so just over a year. It is a great cleanser that foams up, which means you use only a little product to wash your entire face and neck. A 500mL bottle lasted me a year so it is great value! It cleanses the face without drying it out entirely and my skin feels so clean using it in the morning and before bed. Not sure if this was hormonal, but I recently started breaking out, getting random painful pimples near my nose and cheek region which does not usually happen. This was during the time I was trying out Skinstitut's Glycolic Cleanser for about 3 weeks when my Dermalogica ran out. Once I got back on the Special Cleansing Gel my skin has returned to normal, keeping those painful pimples at bay - in a way I feel like this cleanser calmed my skin down. I highly recommend this, but as with any cleanser, would also suggest getting a sample to try out first before buying a bottle.
Whilst I understand everyone's skin is different I had so many people tell me this completely changed their skin in a week. I've been using it nearly two weeks now and whilst my skin does feel a lot clearer and i have less breakouts. The ones i do seem to have are a lot worse than normal. My skin also feels a lot oilier then normal- unsure if this is related.
Absorbs really well, but a little goes a long way. I have dry skin and this is excellent as an all-day moisturiser, but I can see it being unsuitable for oily skin types. Leaves skin soft and hydrated.
