By Popular Demand: Our Beauty Editor’s Morning Skincare Routine

Unlike my evening skincare routine, preparing my skin in the morning is very straightforward.

I keep my makeup routine as simplistic as possible on a day-to-day basis. Keeping my skin looking and feeling healthy means I can be light-handed with my makeup throughout the week, and save full coverage days for the weekend.

To start off with a fresh canvas, I cleanse my face in the morning with asap Gentle Cleansing Gel.

Starting off by hydrating my skin means my face will feel fresh and comfortable all day (although I do love a facial mist). In the morning, I apply Hylamide HA Booster, followed by my moisturiser mixed with a couple of drops of Dermalogica Phyto Replenish Oil.

Once I’ve allowed a couple of minutes for my hydration products to absorb, I apply a layer of Alpha-H Protection Plus Daily SPF50+. I love this facial sunscreen, it’s very lightweight, non-greasy and doesn’t even feel like you’re wearing SPF.

My daily makeup routine is super simple. After applying my skincare, I use Dermalogica Age Smart Skinperfect Primer, followed by Bobbi Brown Nude Finish Tinted Moisturizer, with a light dusting of Glo Minerals Pressed Base over the top.

I can build up more coverage with my Glo Minerals powder if I need to, and add some bronzer under my cheekbones and a touch of highlighter across the high points of my face.

This routine is quick and easy, and just gives your skin a healthy glow without looking or feeling like you’re wearing much makeup at all.

Top Tips:

1. Looking after your skin is the most important step. Wearing heavy coverage to disguise imperfections is a never-ending cycle; treating your skin concerns with the right skincare will give you the confidence to opt for lighter coverage.

2. Make sure the skincare products you’re using are tailored to your individual skin type to target your own skin concerns. If you aren’t sure where to begin, we can help you with a skincare recommendation.

3. Always wear some form of SPF during the day. Not only to protect your skin from damaging UVA/UVB rays that can cause skin cancer, but to prevent signs of ageing like fine lines, wrinkles and pigmentation which are accelerated by UV exposure.
