The Supplement That’s Like Fish Oil, But It's Vegan-Friendly

A vegan friendly fish oil alternative designed to quench your skin from within… sounds too good to be true right? Well, it isn’t. Although who better to create such a hero product to add to our skin routines than the queen of inner beauty herself - Carla Oates.

The Omega Elixir is the newest addition to The Beauty Chef’s line of wellness products and I can’t get enough. If you missed our interview with Carla on the podcast, you can catch it here.

What's So Good About The Omega Elixir?

I’ve been an avid Essential Fatty Acid (EFA) supplement taker-er ever since I got into looking after my skin. The thing is a lot of EFA supplements on the market aren’t plant based, or vegan. In fact, traditionally most are supplemented through fish oil (and TBH can be hard to stomach.)

Hence why this feels like the magical oil my skin has been waiting for. Plus, it tastes super citrusy and is very easy on the palate. Meaning not only is it easy to drink by the spoonful if you’re short on time/not feeling very creative in the kitchen. Although it makes it easy to mix into smoothies, yoghurts and even your morning oats, or salad dressings too!

"Right now, I’m loving it drizzled over smashed avocado on sourdough toast topped with wild-caught smoked salmon, herbs and spices. It’s also delicious mixed into coconut yoghurt and topped with gluten-free granola, chia seed and fresh fruit,” Carla explains.

What Are The Benefits?

The state of our skin, and overall well being have a lot to do with the health of our gut, which is why if you’re suffering from skin issues like irritation, sensitivity or any type of barrier issues incorporating an omega based oil such as this could be extremely beneficial in helping you maintain the integrity of your skin – from within and in turn help you heal your skin issues.

Omega Elixir is ideal for anyone wanting to quench and soothe dry, irritated and inflamed skin from the inside for a smoother complexion. However, it’s not just for people who have dry skin issues, it’s also excellent for those who have inflamed skin,” Carla tells me.

Plus, as opposed to a regular fish oil that only has omega 3’s, Carla adds “blending omega oils 3,6,7 & 9 means you have a complete omega profile and you are getting the synergistic effect of blending the oils, which increases bioavailability. Bioavailability refers to the amount of a substance that is absorbed when it enters the body.” Further, this vegan and gluten-free oil is a listed medicine by the Therapeutic Goods Administration of Australia.

  • A few other health benefits of taking this supplement include:

  • It can help to relieve skin dryness, irritation and inflammation

  • Supports skin smoothness and softness, as well as the skin's structure and integrity

  • This gut friendly omega oil supports general health and wellbeing, eye health and our nervous system

Never Tried The Beauty Chef? Now's The Time!

The Omega Elixir can be consumed in combination with any of The Beauty Chef products. So if this is your first foray into the land of The Beauty Chef products: welcome, because before I go if you’re keen to try any of the other products from the range, below are three that are always on high rotation in my home.

The Beauty Chef Glow Inner Beauty Powder

Honestly a holy grail product from TBC range and the first one I’d try if you are a newbie to the brand. It’s a bio-fermented superfood beauty blend with antioxidants, minerals, vitamins and even probiotics you drink every day. Tastes like berries so it’s amazing when mixed into smoothies although you can mix it into yoghurt or even just plain water and drink on its own. An easy way to boost your gut health fast.

This is a probiotic concentrate designed to increase the collagen production in your skin. Rich in antioxidants, zinc and vitamin C etc… I actually love to mix this formula with soda water and drink it daily that way. (Otherwise I overdrink it because it’s so damn tasty - then it’s gone in three days.) It tastes just like a berry cordial so I find mixing it with soda water kind of makes you feel like you’re drinking a soft drink – although much better for you in so many ways.

This is the ultimate night cap if you find it hard to sleep because winding down at the end of the day is such an integral part of getting a proper night’s rest. Plus, sleep is a non-negotiable when it comes to great skin! Anyway, this is essentially a blend of calming ingredients including turmeric and lemon balm designed to help your body chill and promote calmness. You just mix one teaspoon into a mug of warm milk of choice (sweetened if you like) and ta da – you’ve just created a new healthy sleep routine.
