BUYING GUIDES

How do I choose the right texture?

Sunscreens come in a variety of formulations with different textures. Fluid and matte-finish sunscreens are ideal for combination or oily skin types. Richer creamy formulas are ideal for normal to dry skins.

Some sunscreens are two-in-one products, so they are both a day cream and a sunscreen. You’ll find these in textures for oily skins as well as normal and dry skin types. Moisturisers with an 15+ or 30+ SPF (sun protection factor) can be fluid or creamy, so just select the texture you prefer for your skin type.

Tinted sunscreens are also available if you want a light coverage for your skin, without applying make up.

What’s the difference between Chemical and Physical sunscreens?

Physical sunscreens (also called mineral sunscreens) rely on natural UV blockers like zinc oxide and titanium dioxide to provide a shield against the sun. Physical blockers work by sitting on top of skin and reflecting UV rays. They are an excellent choice for sensitive skin types.

Chemical sunscreens often contain a combination of physical and chemical UV blockers. Chemical blockers work by interacting with the skin’s top layer to absorb UV rays and convert them into energy before they can harm skin.
