Our eyes are supposedly the windows to our soul... and they are also the first place to show the signs of ageing. Laugh lines are wonderful and we don't want women to fuss over those, but those pesky little dehydration lines and crows feet can be worked on. Start using a nourishing, emollient eye cream morning and night, preferably with a Vitamin C or A eye product worked into the routine as well - and say 'bye bye' to unwanted fine lines!

BUYING GUIDES

Why do I need an eye product?
Eye products hydrate the delicate eye area and help to prevent fine lines. Face moisturisers can often cause puffiness or irritation when they’re applied near the eye area. Eye products are formulated to be exactly what the finer skin in the eye area needs.

What kinds of eye products are there?
Eye products come in gel and cream forms. Some brands also make eye serums that are applied underneath an eye cream for more potent results.

Eye Gels are lightly hydrating and tend to be used for puffiness in the eye area. Often they’ll have a cooling and reviving effect on the eye area and will leave a fresh sensation. Eye gels can be applied alone (for a light hydration) or underneath an eye cream.

Eye Creams are moisturising and often contain age preventative ingredients. They can be applied alone or on top of an eye gel or eye serum. Eye creams will help with dehydration and will leave the area feeling fresh, nourished and supple.

Eye Serums are commonly age preventative and tend to combine more potent age prevention ingredients like vitamins C and A and AHAs, though many eye creams will also contain these potent ingredients. Eye serums usually come in a gel form or are watery in texture. They are applied under an eye cream, which will then provide the moisture the area needs.

How do I use an eye product?
Use your eye product both morning and night. Cleanse your skin and remove eye make-up, and then apply your eye product. You don’t need to apply eye products too close up to the eye rim. Just place the pad of your index finger on your eye bone orbit and make a circle — that’s where your eye product should go. It’s important not to get your product in your eye or near your tear duct.
