Burt began as a photojournalist in New York City. But New York wasn't for him. There were hardly any trees and there weren't nearly enough bees.
Burt moved to rural Maine and took up residence in a humble home with his best friend and golden retriever, Rufus. It was here that Burt took up beekeeping as a hobby. It wasn't long before Burt and his friend Roxanne had the idea to turn beeswax into candles and lip balm. These products were huge hits at the local craft fairs.
They were such a hit, in fact, that Burt and Roxanne established their first factory in a nearby abandoned schoolhouse. Since outgrowing first the schoolhouse and then an old bowling alley, Burts Bees sure has grown up in the last few years - but without ever losing sight of their roots and principles.
You will find individual Burts Bees reviews on the relevant product pages. Bees wax beauty is back!
