It's summer. You've pulled out the thongs, sandals or strappy shoes and you've bared your toes and heels only to feel a little shy about the whole thing, right? For some time, you've hidden your feet beneath socks and tights, tucked away from the cold, almost forgotten them.
No need to fret, it's not hard to get your feet back to fabulous with this super simple pedicure!
1. Soak your feet
You can sit on the side of the bathtub and dunk your feet in or prepare a bowl of water for this step. Why not add in some delicious essential oils or sea salt to add to the experience?
2. Exfoliate
You can use your facial exfoliant for this, a body exfoliant or some sea salt. Massage it into the feet and enjoy the texture!
3. Trim, file and buff
With a pair of nail clippers, trim the nail straight across (long nails are not great for the nail bed because they press against your shoes and can create nail lifting). Next, get a nail file to smooth any rough or sharp edges. With a medium to coarse nail buffer, buff over the nail, removing any discolouration.
4. Tend your cuticles
Apply cuticle oil (or even olive oil or body oil) to your cuticles and with an orange stick or cuticle pusher, gently push the cuticles back. At the same time, you can use your cuticle pusher or orange stick to clean under your nails.
5. Paddle your heels
With a good paddle, work the dry skin away from the feet. The paddles you can buy that look like a paddle with a metal 'cheese grater' on them are great!
6. Moisturise with a massage
Massage a moisturiser, body lotion or oil into your tootsies and relax!
7. Add a fun colour
First clean the nail of any residue from the massage using a cotton ball and nail polish remover. Then use a base coat to prevent your freshly buffed nails from discolouring. Apply two coats of colour for a beautiful, even finish. Wait a moment and then add a top coat. Finish by applying cuticle oil (the kind that comes in a nail polish style bottle with a brush) over the nail - this will stop fluff clinging to the nail as the polish dries.
8. Clean up
If you have created any mess around the nail, just dip your orange stick -into your bottle of nail polish remover and use the wooden stick to clean around the nail - it makes cleaning up easy!
