Kevin Murphy talks about his recent photo shoot with Jess Hart and Andrej Pejic.

"We did this featured shoot in Australia just after Christmas when Andrej was home to visit his family.  Andrej has recently been the face of Marc Jacobs and was the star of Jean Paul Gaultier's spring ads.  Even though he is super feminine I wanted to show him in a more masculine way, and a little like the Glam Rock singers of the late seventies and early eighties.

"It was my aim to make the models look the same.  Jess Hart was the female model and she has such beautiful hair.  I started by rubbing a little MOTION.LOTION through her hair when it was dry.  She had basically just come from the beach and straight to the shoot so she already had a good amount of texture in her hair.

"I then used WAVE.CLIPS on Jess's hair and just let them basically drop out.  I ended up pulling a bit of the wave out of her hair as it worked so well, I wanted her to look natural and didn't want her hair to look done at all.

"Andrej's hair is super bleached which is always a great texture to work with.  I used HAIR.RESORT.SPRAY to give it a bit of guts and to slightly fatten his hair.  I love this shot of Andrej as he looks quite masculine yet feminine at the same time.  I wanted to create movement so I used WAVE.CLIPS on Andrej's hair.  I tried to make the wave look lazy and hardly there.

"The WAVE.CLIPS are great for adding this movement whilst keeping the frizz away, not that I'm afraid of frizz but I wanted form amongst the texture.

"For this beauty shoot we decided to pull the hair back and make the models look really clean. It was quite refreshing to see them both in pale colours with that no makeup look.

"We treated both the models as if they were the same gender; both of them had such amazing skin with no pores at all.

"I pulled their hair straight back with a twist and secured this with an elastic.  I twisted the ponytails at the back and sewed through the buns to create a messy chignon.  I then pulled some hair loosely around the front and finished it with SESSION.SPRAY to clump up the hair and give the front pieces some definition."
